How do I transfer names from one week to the next?

Some clubs have the same players and the same pairs playing every week. When that is the case it is convenient to transfer all names from last week.

Magic Contest was not designed for this method of entering names. It is however possible to achieve through a few simple steps.

Make one permanent setting

This is something you only need to do once, as this is a permanent setting in Magic Contest.

  1. Open any contest, for instance last week’s contest
  2. Select Contest menu > Enter names
  3. Select Name menu > Settings
  4. Select From top to bottom

Export names

  1. Open last week’s contest
  2. Select Contest menu > Enter names
  3. Select Name menu > Export starting list to
  4. Select Magic Contest outbox

Import names

  1. Open this week’s contest
  2. Select Contest menu > Enter names
  3. Select Name menu > Import starting list from
  4. Select Magic Contest Outbox

For obvious reasons, Magic Contest cannot know what starting list file to import. You have to select the file that corresponds to the previous week’s contest. The file name will be a combination of contest date and contest name.
